| I love the way that the Artipelag museum in Värmdö, Stockholm, has decorated the stairs with Andy Warhol's flowers...If you are in Stockholm before 25 September do not miss this manageable exhibition. If not so for the museum in itself, its position and nice restaurants. |

| Blå Porten on Djurgården is a cafe and restaurant with a lovely garden and adjacent to the art museum Liljevalchs (unfortunately under restorations at the moment and closed). Nice food and lovely ambiance for a summer lunch or early dinner. Not far from the ferry from Slussen and more or less opposite Skansen and next door to the funfair "Gröna Lund". |

| Skansen is one of my favourite places in my hometown of Stockholm (where I grew up). A mix of outdoor architectural museum and animal park (Nordic animals and more international reptiles!). Here some old fashioned trellis and "Humle" (Hobs) growing in the background. |

| At Skansen they also demonstrate a lot of traditional handicraft like carpentry, glass making, baking and cheese making (above). All with volunteers dressed according to history. Lovely! Go there if you are in Stockholm. Walk from town via Strandvägen, take the bus or tram or the ferry from Slussen. |

| Orelund in Österlen, not far from Vik and Kivik. A wonderful "farmshop" with vegetables, cheeses, gifts and a nice café. Plants and garden gadgets also for sale. Above, a nice pond is the view from the café. More to come from here later... |

| Skillinge Hamnkrog in Skillinge. Fantastic setting, nice food and lovely staff. I had fresh plaice with new potatoes and capers. Fresh and delicious! Good for lunch and nice lounging for those more chilly nights! Go there! Österlen in the southwest of Sweden! |

| I went to Skåne and Österlen (Wallander country and the south east part of Sweden)a month ago. A beautiful and tranquil part of the world (and Sweden). We were so lucky with the weather and that a lot of the places we wanted to visit was open at this early part of the season. We started with lunch in Hammenhög in a not too Swedish place. "En bit av Medelhavet", i.e. "A piece of the Mediterranian". A lovely shop with Greek and Spanish pottery and a lovely garden were the Greek waiter/owner? Vassilis served fresh and authentic Greek salads. A great start of our stay! |

| We had rented some excellent "houses" in Vik by the sea and this historic place is called "The Reverends Bathtub" (Prostens badkar). We had a lovely walk along the seaside if not a bit rocky at places. |

| Not far from Vik is the bigger summer town of Simrishamn. With a lovely seafront with restaurants and shops and a pieceful park (fountain pictured). Have a stroll and a nice meal! Popular on Saturday mornings with a car boot sale and flea market! |

| Outside Vik towards Kivik and Södra Mellby we found this charming organic café and bakery, "Dalängarna". Take a break and have a nice coffee and homemade cakes and buy some freshly baked stone owen loafs. More from Österlen tomorrow! |
