Welcome to Villa Walala, a grownup playground and bouncy castle (without the bounce unfortunately) that was built up especially during London Design Festival lately. I the heart of the City (banking area) at Bishops Gate/Liverpool Station this fun and colourful installation brought some fun a relaxation for lunching and resting workers in this office area. Renown designer och artist graphic designer, the Londonbased French Camilla Walala had taken the Memphis group inspirational design into new dimensions.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Camilla during the London Design Festival. A truly inspirational and happy designer, she told me that it was the first time she had worked in this "material" and I hope, certainly not the last!

At DesignJunction DeadGood had a collection of round rugs with similar inspiration. Happy!

Turkish tile producers built up portals outside DesignJunciton, also in the spirit of the Memphis Group.

At London Design Fair (Tent and Super Brands) this young company had created building blocks/furniture in Memphis Group inspired forms and colours.

The contrast with the office buildings surrounding Villa Walala was immense. Hope to see something similar soon, this time with a proper bouncy castle included!

Lee Broom is a lighting star. And how he manages to use his minimal showroom in Shoreditch is exceptionally clever. At first you are fooled and think it is mirrored when it is in fact doubled. Well done with all this black beauty Lee! All during London Design Festival and Shoreditch Design Triangle.

Ace Hotel new members in their design family. Salt and pepper mills in a high tech design and basic ceramics for coffee, mug and jug. Ace Hotel, Shoreditch High Street, London.

Canadian light design with hints of Scandinavia. Andlights cleverly simple lamp has the Nordic elements but feels a bit more exclusive with its matt surface and knotted wiring...more from London Design Festival and Fashion week soon.

Christopher Bailey has done it again. This time with a photo exhibition "Here we are" at the Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell, soon to be a club, restaurant and bar (Swedish own). Again a mix of what has inspired Christopher for his latest collection for Burberry. A class journey from punk to upper class fox hunting. Do not miss it if you are in London. Finish on 1 October. A traditional start of the Design Week and Focus is the breakfast at Designers Guild. Tricia Guild talked about her new book, the 18th!, "Paint Box", a cookbook for interior design...

At Focus and Decorex Pierre Frey surprised us with a new daring collection. This was shown at World of Interiors stand at Decorex. Fresh with flowers and yellow to match.

William Yeoward also surprised me with an eclectic mix with bold colours. More tomorrow from London Design Festival!
