SPRING COLOURS @ HOME from DEBENHAMS and IKEA

Went to Stratford Upon Avon to have my hair cut (Matthew Curtis) and passed www.Debenhams.com and was positively surprised to see home ware in their window displays! A lot of inspiration from the 50-ies and 60-ies in a modern way. Very nice and well presented and good prices!

Among a few other more or less famous designers the well known wonder child Matthew Williamson had designed these cushions and a whole collection of bedlinen and towels. Flowery and full of butterflies.

One line, mainly china, is inspired by the dutch company Pip and Cath Kidston. Again, very well designed and good prices!

This was the more modern line, graphic designed cushions and wire shaped into candle holders! I could not resist them and got all three! £7 each!

And here they are, on my kitchen dining table ready for Sunday lunch! Black candle holders from www.Habitat.com, paper napkins from www.hm.com, runners from www.ahlens.se, water glasses from www.conranshop.com and black plates from www.hoganas.se-

I served slow cooked lamb shoulder with Dauphinoise potatoes and this attractive salad, original recipe by Nigella Lawson. Little gem salad with avocado and warm peas dressed with garlic oil, white wine vinegar, honey, and mint! Seasoned with salt and pepper! Lovely to any roast or lamb dish!

I went to Ikea last week and saw this mix of patterns! Striking!

"Bråkig", a temporary and trendy collection by www.Ikea.com. Wallpaper, fabric, cushions and china and Frosta footstool with matching colours. Hurry, when it´s gone it´s gone!

MORE SPRING GREENS FROM ENGLAND

Lily of the Valley and butterflies, spring is nearly here. This was displayed at Osborne & Little during Chelsea Design Week (this week). Among a lot of news one was a wallpaper with a monochrome flowery base with colourful butterflies hence this arrangement! www.osborneandlittle.com

Daylesford Organic with headquarters in Kingham (The Cotswolds) had added some colour to their otherwise colourless collections. Sage and mild greens mixed with white and grey, fresh like spring greens! I love the display with the use of vintage milk footstools. www.daylesfordorganic.com

Lovely embroidery, ferns are really one of my favourite motives when it comes to fabrics. This cushion is from the latest collection at Designers Guild, www.designersguild.com

Think Monet and water lilys etc. The latest collection from The Black Edition by Romo was all done by an impressionistic artist. It was gorgeous and will no doubt start a trend within fabric design. www.romo.com

Tropical inspiration from scientific travels from the past was the theme of one of Sanderson's new collections. www.sanderson.com

CHELSEA DESIGN WEEK - FROM DESIGNERS GUILD TO JOHN LEWIS

Chelsea Design Week, London Design Week, whatever you want to call this week it started traditionally with breakfast @ Designers Guild, Tricia Guild herself is always there to greet you! Lots of blues as usual - her favourite colour.

Always with a nice smile on her face, we all had a chat with the lovely Tricia this morning!

I went to Daylesford Organic (near Kingham, The Costwolds) last Sunday for lunch and what a surprise to find some colour in there otherwise so white and off white style. Yellowy green over to turquoise, fresh!

Why not paint your own pots this spring. From blue greys to yellow!

A mix of spring greens from Designer Guild, mix flowers with tye dye, crushed velvet and vintage furniture.

The new collections from DG are inspired by Japan. Here in a sage green colour way. Elegant and calming.

Paul Jones/John Lewis near Sloane Square celebrated spring with this arty window display. Showing off their Scandinavian inspired furniture and monochrome tableware. www.johnlewis.com for more!

HERB INFUSED OLIVE OIL AND OLIVE GREEN FASHION FROM BURBERRY AND HM ETC

Did a bit of spring cleaning in my kithchen this weekend and washed out the old garlic and rosemary olive oil bottles and filled them up with fresh garlic, twigs of rosemary from my garden and virgin olive oil. Easy peasy to do. Clean the bottles, add garlic or any fresh herb you like, fill up with virgin olive oil and put the in the window where the sun can get to them. That will speed up the infusing time! Use when cooking and for salads etc. Nice to bring as a gift instead of flowers or a bottle of wine.

Olive green will be a big colour for next winter if you are to believe Burberry and what was shown at the last London Fashion Week. I love the big scarf draped over the shoulder. Note the bag and shoes with flowery and arty applications!

More olive green. this time in maxi length woolly "caftans" and wide trousers high in waist and with a surprising transparent detail on the thigh! Felder and Felder AW14.

HM also showed the military green at their show in Paris recently! Woolly jumper and lacey satin shorts and high boots. AW 14 www.hm.com.
